31st August - PASMA Tower Training, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre

 

  • To provide formal instruction on the principles and practices of correct inspection, erection and dismantling of mobile access towers
  • To understand the PASMA code of practice
  • To gain knowledge on necessary legislation that affects safe use of towers

10th and 11th  October - 2 day rigging at Total Fabrications, Birmingham
  • Theory            Responsibilities of individuals - Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 

Risk Assessment, PUWER and LOLER Regulations 1998

                                Work at Height Regulations 2005

Working at height principles, the hierarchy of controls

Lifting principles - lever, beam, pulley and angles of lift

                                Point and Uniform loads, identify rigging/lifting points 

                       

  • Practical  Slinging - basket and choke - "steel" and roundsling. 

                                Using bowline and two shackle basket technique.

                                Marking out points

Hanging chain blocks or chain motors

Powering up hoists and running chains through

Using trusses - chords, bracing, nodes, connections, wall thickness

Assembly and simple slinging of general purpose trusses

Tuesday 2nd October - Stage Flying and Rigging, RADA, London

 

  • To give delegates knowledge of necessary regulations and legislation that govern safe rigging
  • To understand and be able to demonstrate rigging procedures and steel wire construction.
  • To understand and be able to demonstrate flying scenery and cloth procedures.
  • To provide information on rope craft.
  • The course will cover LOLA principles and necessary legislation, rigging, truss and motors.
  • The trainer will take you through different parts of kit and how to select appropriate kit. Steel wire rope and how to make a drift.
  • The flying module of the course will cover; counterweight flying, single & double purchase, traditional hemp flying and rope craft.
